Our small business grew out of a hobby - transferring 78 rpm records to CD, hence the name 78s2CD. We specialize in Gilbert and Sullivan, and in early vocal artists, including Alma Gluck and Sir Harry Lauder. After several years of distributing only our own highly-regarded catalog, in 2004 we took on exclusive distribution of the excellent Sounds on CD catalogue produced in England by Chris Webster.
Recent court rulings have made it advisable to stop selling in the US transfers of works previously thought to be in the public domain. Because most of our CDs are based on sound recordings that are in the public domain in the United Kingdom, we will be bringing them to the UK in the form of MP3 downloads that will be available on this web site.
